High value incoming links to your web site is an invaluable resource for two reasons:
1. Incoming links bring you traffic! And who doesn’t want that? Your web site needs to be exposed to the millions of web surfers out there everyday just looking for your amazing services! The surefire way to bring those masses to your web site 24/7 is to find high traffic web sites where you can place a link to your web site.
2. Search engines give ranking priority to web sites with a lot of high value incoming links. Just think of it like high school – the popular kids always got the most attention – right? So the popular kids must have the coolest clothes, the greatest hair, the lastest fashions…blah, blah, blah. Well, the search engines think just like your 15 year-old friends – if lots of web sites are linking to yours, then that must be an AWESOME web site! In this example you will see that the URL of the page:

has the keywords “internet”, “marketing”, and “training”. These three words are also in our text that is visible to the web site visitor:

This provides a very strong optimized incoming link that will help search engines pull up this page when someone types in a search for internet marketing training.
2. When you create a new product, write a new article, upload a new video, create a podcast, or write a press release – post your new offering all over the web. Make sure that you post the new item on a web page that has the important keywords for that product in the file name, page title, page headers, and descriptive content – as well as in the link if there is a media file on your server.
3. Each week, take an hour and find new places on the internet where you can post your web site and it’s key content. You will probably have to send a request, so make a spreadsheet of the web sites you’ve contacted, their URL, and the date you sent the request. Each week review your list and follow-up with the websites that you have not heard from.
4. Many times, the web site you are requesting a link from will want a recipol link in return. So make sure that you have a place on your web site where you can place recipcol links and send the requester the page URL when you have posted their link. It would be good to note this action in your spreadsheet.
5. Do not use Link Farms to get your incoming links. Many services offer incoming link campaigns for a price, but this often results in having your web site listed on hundreds of web sites that have no value and are often just mirror web sites repeated. The search engines know who the link farms are and will often penalize your web site for being listed on one. ONLY request links to sites that relate to your service and is where you will actually find your target customer. High value incoming links will be rewarded with improved search engine rankings.
