Successful Author Secrets

Did you know that one of the best ways that an entrepreneur can stand out from the competition is to write a book?

When you’re an author, you have a business card that lasts forever, sharing your message and wisdom with the world. In fact, a book is often your ticket to getting invitations for paid speaking engagements, media attention, information products, higher fees, and a steady stream of clients.

However, writing and marketing a book can be challenging, especially if you don’t know where to begin. Aspiring authors can get bogged down and never finish their books, or, even worse, write a book that no one wants to buy.

I’m really excited about an event happening the month of August, Successful Author Secrets: Navigating the Course from Aspiring Author
to Best-seller and Beyond.
This ground-breaking program will feature 21 successful authors who will tell you the truth about what it took for them to become successful.

Just imagine learning from author super stars like Michael Gerber, Marci Shimoff, Loral Langmeir, and T. Harv Eker.

The best teachers are those who have mastered the task. These folks are proven master authors who are ready to share valuable information you can use right away. Yes, some have even been on
Oprah’s couch. I want to hear about that!

If you are even remotely considering writing a book to build your business, check out the all-star line up of speakers at this on-line event happening in August. And, you can attend for free!

The Secret To Paying Yourself First, Even If Cash Flow Is Tight

Blog Owner: Jeneth Blackert Strategic Marketing & Business Coach

Article by Kendall Summerhawk

The first few years of being in business, the idea of “paying myself first” sounded insane. It seemed a lot more important to pay my mortgage, my web hosting fees and the telephone bill. You know what I mean, right?

But then I noticed that I always felt one step behind in how much I was making. It seemed as if it was never enough. Plus, I never felt like I had “permission” to buy things I wanted, like new clothes or things for my house.

When I peeled back the curtain I realized that by not paying myself it was as if I was saying that “I didn’t count.” I was putting myself so low on the list of financial priorities it was no wonder I never felt like I had any money.

All that changed when I created my simple “Pay Yourself First” system. And yes, I created this system BEFORE I was making more. Magically, not only did I have the money to pay myself, I quickly began making MORE than I had before, without really doing anything different.

If you’re in the same boat I was, where you always seem to have more “month than you have money” then you MUST read these 3 simple tips right now. They’ll help you pay yourself first, plus help you quickly increase how much you keep each month.

Tip #1 If You Don’t Value Yourself, How Will Anyone Else?

If you put off paying yourself first you’re telling the world that you’re not valuable. Once you begin to honor your contribution by compensating yourself you’re going to feel valued and you’ll feel a growing sense of self respect. Trust me, that’s going to translate into more confidence marketing and growing your business.

Tip #2 The Amount Doesn’t Matter But The Action Does

At first, it doesn’t really matter how much you pay yourself. What DOES matter is making this part of your monthly ritual. So, choose an amount and a schedule you’re likely to stick with. Don’t make it contingent upon getting a new client or filling a new program. Remember, you’re establishing that YOU come first, no matter what.

Tip #3 Beware Of Money Gremlins That May Pop Up

If you’re not accustomed to valuing yourself in this way you may find a money gremlin tries to sabotage you. If this happens, simply breathe…and remind yourself that this is normal. Be assured, these gremlins will disappear over time so stick with it, okay?

Every Step You Take To Value Yourself More WILL Pay Off…

If you’ve struggled with under charging and under earning then paying yourself first is going to be an important step forward. Just remember that these are the same steps I took to go from waiting tables to now running a multi-million dollar coaching business. If I can do it, so can you!

How Anastasia Attracted 2,000 New Subscribers FREE and in a few days

By Vrinda Normand – Copywriter & Guest Blogger

My client Anastasia is a fun, sexy, bold woman with a huge laugh and a huge heart. As a life coach, she has been striving for several years to share her gifts with the world in a bigger, more leveraged way.

Before we met, her information products and teleseminars weren’t selling online. She was going through the ups and downs of hope and frustration with her marketing.

Then a few months ago, she called me with a huge surge of excitement. She had landed an opportunity to host a virtual event called the Entrepreneurial Goddess Telesummit.

She would be joining 16 powerful women leaders and get exposure to over a half million people through online marketing. So we went to work right away on the website that would fill the telesummit and bring Anastasia’s business to the next level.

As her irresistible writing coach, I noticed 3 important strategies to make her content more clear and compelling. These are very common areas where I see a lot of entrepreneurs could improve.

Just a 1% increase in conversation for Anastasia would mean over 5,000 new potential clients subscribing to her list. She’s right in the middle of her launch (the telesummit hasn’t started yet) and over 2,000 people have already registered.

Strategy #1: Be vulnerable in your marketing. Share personal details that show you’re human. This helps your audience relate to you and trust you. You’ll see in the example below that highlighting the challenges of powerful women leaders (their burnout, overwhelm, fear & self-doubt) makes the content far more enticing. Especially because these women have learned the hard way and are sharing their wisdom from real life experience.

Strategy #2: Be specific about the results people will get from working with you. In the Before example, Anastasia writes about aligning the business team, embracing joy, and balancing energies. But it’s not very clear how these things will produce tangible results in a woman’s life. The descriptions don’t spark an emotional charge like hot copy should. Notice the difference in the After example.

Strategy #3:
Be concise and try to communicate your message with fewer words. It will be much stronger and easier to read. Notice how the headline evolves in the examples below. Nothing in particular “pops out” at you in the Before version – nice but not catchy enough. The After version hooks you with a few key words: truth, power, burnout and thrive. Plus it’s a lot zingier because it’s shorter.

Before Example by Anastasia:

On this Very Special Telesummit, you will learn from some of the World’s Top Business Women Leaders how they Grew a Successful Business, Helped Thousands of People, and Stayed Connected with Their Feminine Power

· Strategies for Aligning Your Business Team

· Embrace the Joy in Your Business

· Uncover and Integrate Your Deepest Passions Into Your Life

· How to Balance Between Your Masculine and Feminine Energy

“Finally…the Truth About What It Takes to Lead With Your Feminine Power, Avoid Burnout, and Thrive in Your Business…”

· Hear real life stories about how strong women leaders faced burnout and overwhelm

· Learn the common leadership mistakes others have made…and how you can avoid them

Do ‘Just One Thing’ To Get Your Book Done

Blog Owner: Jeneth Blackert Strategic Marketing & Business Coach

Write Your Book FAST - Do 1 Thing
By Contributing Writer: Donna Kozik
Many times when we think about writing and publishing a book our minds careen out of control into the depths of overwhelm.

Let’s put the brakes on that.

Instead, what one thing could you do right now to move forward in your dream of becoming a published author?

Here are four “just 1 thing” ideas I have for the want-to-be-published. I encourage you to pick one to apply today so you can be a published authors sooner rather than later.

1. Develop Your “Goal Statement.”

If you join one of my “Write a Book in a Weekend” events, the first thing I will encourage you to do is write and send me a goal statement describing why you want to write your book and what it will accomplish for you.

It doesn’t have to be long—200-300 words should do it.

And there is great power in those few words—more often than not, it’s the participants who take a few minutes to write and send me their goal statement who get their book done by the end of the weekend. How about that? No coincidences.

2. Describe Your Ideal Reader

When you are in the throes of thinking, thinking, thinking about your book and get caught up in the “doing” of writing, it can be very easy to become, frankly, quite self-absorbed—meaning you lose focus about who the book is for in the first place: your reader.

Another short assignment I would give you as a “Write a Book in a Weekend” participant is to write a short description of your “ideal reader.” Tell me about one person who will benefit from your book. Is it a man or woman? What age? Where do they live? What do they do? And then the big question: what is the biggest problem or challenge they face that your book will solve?

3. Write Your “About the Author”

You might think this is a “save for last” item, however I encourage my peeps to write their “About the Author” section first, stressing not only their own credentials, but the specific problems and challenges their readers face and how they intend to solve them. It’s another good way to get your book defined in your own mind, plus provide yourself with a big picture overview.

4. Take the “10 Minute Challenge”

This is a simple but effective technique to get going on a larger project. Set a timer for 10 minutes and GO, GO, GO, GO, GO! Challenge yourself to see how much you can write in those 10 minutes. Most likely you’ll get such momentum going you’ll add another 10, and another, and another…I use this often, including now as I write this piece. ;-)

5. Speed Write About Your Favorite Topic

Sometimes what gets in our way is thinking too much about what we “should” write versus what we “want” to write. No one says you have to start with Chapter One. A great way to jump start your book project is to pick your favorite topic and start writing about that, even if it might be the “wrap up” chapter.

You can see a common theme to all these ideas—getting started somewhere, anywhere! It’s amazing—and also magical—about what getting started can do for a person. I encourage you to pick one or two of the items above, apply them right now, and let me know the results.

Donna Kozik is a two-time award winning author who has been featured in Woman’s Day, Women’s World, Teen People, The L.A. Times, The Baltimore Sun, NPR’s “Marketplace” and other media. She now shows others how to write and publish a book fast and easy to use as a “big business card.” She does this through “Write a Book in a Weekend” live and virtual events. You can find out more about how to write your book fast and easy during a call Donna and I are doing Wednesday, April 28.

Are You Wired To Change Your Vision – Your Life?

Blog Owner: Jeneth Blackert Strategic Marketing & Business Coach

To Change Or Not To Change

To Change Or Not To Change

The truth of the matter is information gathering happens in our conscious mind. This is where we gather information, listen to music or information, and we think, “Wow. Cool stuff. This is fabulous!” We feel excited, and then tomorrow we will have forgotten 90% of what we have heard, because that’s the way we have been conditioned. When we were children, we would sit in the classroom and gather information for tests, then we take the test and forget it. Did you know that your conscious thoughts are responsible for approximately 2-4 percent of your results. And your subconscious or habitual way of thinking and behaving is responsible for 96% to 98% of your results?

What a scary thought?

The brain gathers information at the conscious level in the frontal lobe of the head during beta brain frequency. In order for us to move the information from the conscious to subconscious and create REAL change, we must impress that information on the subconscious by repetition. We can do this through written, auditory, visual, or experiential ways. This is why affirmations, vision boards and hypnotherapy messages works so well.

It’s the implicit memory system or subconscious level where your habits live. Habits are thousands of times more powerful then desires. So your desire a CHANGE, you make your intention, your start to will the change but that is only a part of the equation.

There are 3 other parts to the equation:

1. You must have the right knowledge and/or in the right order.

2. You must have the instruction of what to do with it. For example, I can tell you that you need Aweber to build a list, but if you don’t receive the information on how to grow a list, you will fail.

3. You must “use or utilize” the information in life. You must take action on the information. Surround yourself in an environment that holds you accountable to your new behavior.

Through the repetition and environmental changes, we start to accelerate CHANGE in life. In fact we even start to think and behave differently.

I’m committed to learning how to change from the inside out so we can hold a vision that shifts our beliefs and behaviors.

That’s how change happens.

Your Homework:

1. Look at how you receive and repeat valuable information.

2. Make a habit of seeing (vision boards), hearing (audio programs) and experiencing (taking action) new thoughts and habits.

Can You Sell Your Online Business Idea?

Blog Owner: Jeneth Blackert Strategic Marketing & Business Coach

business marketing ideas for entrepreneurs

If you’re looking for a way to make more money online the obvious first place to start is with your own interests and hobbies. If the topic interests you – then there is a high probability that the topic interests thousands of people around the world!

So how do you choose your topic? Well, ask yourself a few simple questions about who YOU are:

What do you ultimately want in your life?
1. What do you naturally see happening for you when you step completely into your power.

Who are YOU? Let’s get back to the basics…
1. What is your name, age, and gender? Would this be the same of your target audience?
2. What did you enjoy as a child?
3. Describe where you live. Is this the environment to meet prospective clients?
4. Identify the traditional statistics about yourself: Blue collar or white collar? Spiritual or not? Liberal or conservative? Is this the type of people your resonate with?

Who do you RELATE and RESONATE with?
1. How would you describe your friends?
2. Do you make friends online or only in person?
3. What are the common interests of the majority of your friends?

How do you use your time?
1. What jobs have you held?
2. What volunteer activities or causes have you promoted?
3. What hobbies or entertainment do you enjoy?

Where do you go GO?
1. Do you enjoy traveling or do you like to stay close to home?
2. Are you an indoor person or an outdoor person?
3. Where do you want to go that you haven’t?

These have to be answered before you think about “HOW you are going to do it.”

By answering these questions you’ll get a deeper understanding of who you are, what you enjoy, and how you already share that with your friends. Look for areas that excite you and you have a passion about, then list those as possible topics to create an internet business around. This is the first step to finding your Unique Selling Proposition. It will also help you find something you will love to work on.

So once you’ve chosen some topics that you may want to use to create an online income – how do you know which is the best one?

This is the “marketability factor”.

Just because you think it’s a good idea doesn’t mean you can sell it. You have to do some market research to find out if it has broad appeal and the best way to sell your idea.

Answer these questions to determine if your idea has “marketability”:

1. How often do you hear your topic mentioned in the news? If the news media considers your subject important enough to report on with regularity, it’s probably something quite a few people are interested in. Televisions, magazines and newspapers are looking for ratings, and they get them by drawing large audiences with the information they present. The broader the audience they feel can be reached with a topic, the more often they will seek to cover it.

2. How many products are available on the market relating to your topic? Finding out you have a lot of competition is not necessarily a bad thing. It simply means there is a large enough consumer base to support products that deal with the topic—and that will include your product.

3. What is the approximate age range of people who would find your topic interesting? The best topics have broad demographical appeal. If your subject can interest anyone from teens to retirees, you have a great shot at creating and selling a successful product.

4. How fast would you act on a great deal for a product relating to your topic? How about your friends? Would you jump at a bargain if it related to the topic you’ve chosen? And how about the people you hang out with—your easy-to-reach target market? The sooner you can hook people into a sale during the buying process, the more likely your autoresponder campaign will be profitable.

5. What are the benefits of knowing more about your topic that customers would gain by buying your product? People want to know they’re getting what they pay for. Your topic should be able to provide buyers with some tangible knowledge or skill they would not otherwise have if they hadn’t purchased your product. Being able to list the benefits of your product will also help in your marketing,

You will need to educate yourself on a wide variety of topics to insure your success.

Blog Owner: Jeneth Blackert Strategic Marketing & Business Coach

Relationship Marketing for Entrepreneurs

You may have heard this before, but I don’t think this can be emphasis enough. This could be the single most thing that makes you stand out from your competitors.

Think about at what’s going on with your business communication cycle. Take an honest moment and ask yourself, how am I communicating with my prospects, clients and strategic alliance? Is it clear, concise and on-purpose?

The simplest way to grow your bottom line is to sell more of your services to your current and past clients. The fortune is in the relationship.

What processes do you have in place that creates a strong relationship with customers.

Think about this:

1. Who already knows you and your quality of work?

2. Who trusts you to deliver a good product?

3. Who is already singing your praises?

So, who would be the easiest prospect to sell more of your products or services? Past Clients? YES!

The best way to contact your past clients and introduce them to your new or expanded services is by starting a regular-newsletter or ezine. You already have their email address, you already know all about their business, and you already know what they need. So – tell them what you can offer to help them be successful in the coming year.

First of all, you must set up an effective email marketing system. We have three that we recommend:

AWeber – Email Marketing Made Easy

1. For serious internet marketing campaigns
2. Unlimited auto-responders
3. Packages start around $20 /mo.

1ShoppingCart

1. Combines e-commerce with newsletter system;
2. Unlimited auto-responders but limited tracking;
3. Packages start around $100 /mo.

Rate Point Newsletters

1. Combines newsletter, rating system, & survey tools;
2. Limited auto-responders but robust tracking
3. Packages start around $20 /mo.

Choose the right system for you based on your business needs. Thoroughly read the features on their web sites to determine which one you feel most comfortable with and will best work with your marketing strategy.

AND… there are important strategies to follow when creating a newsletter:

1. You want people to open the newsletter, so you need a good subject line.

2. You want to share useful free information, information about you and your business, and information about products or services that you can sell.

3. You want to drive them to your web site so that you can present more information to them.

4. You want get them to take action – pick up the phone or fill out a form.

5-Step Process The Uncovers Your Entrepreneur Mind Dragons

Blog Owner: Jeneth Blackert Strategic Marketing & Business Coach

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

THERE’S A SMALL SQUIRREL IN MY BACKYARD running with an acorn. I watch him for a minute when suddenly he is attacked by another squirrel attempting to steal his acorn. After a long struggle the smaller squirrel runs away, unfortunately without his acorn. I wonder if that squirrel will still be holding angry thoughts toward the squirrel that sold his dinner?

No other life form on planet Earth seems to hold so much negativity in their mind, body, and life as the human race.

Think about it, you may see an angry squirrel chasing another for an acorn, but I bet the anger is forgotten once the other squirrel has eaten the acorn.

Wouldn’t you agree?

There are millions of patterns in the subconscious mind.

The patterns that actually work for you can be left alone, but the patterns that aren’t working can be explored and retrained.

But how do you find them?

How do you bring them into your conscious awareness?

These dragons are stopping you from living the life of your dreams.

Let’s talk about how you can uncover your own unique hidden limiting beliefs and mental patterns (dragons).

Step 1: Observe your thoughts first. The thought precedes that habit/addiction/pattern/dragon

Step 2: When the thought comes up ask yourself, “Is this thought of
past, present, or future? Is this true for all mankind?”

Step 3: Redirect the mind into the present time. (The past is a mere memory and the future is a mere fantasy. This means that you need to deal with issues in the now.)

Step 4: How do you experience that thought/dragons and feel right now? How does it feel?

Step 5: Write down the situation in your journal and name your dragon.

The Light of Life: A Tribute To My Mother’s Life

Blog Owner: Jeneth Blackert Strategic Marketing & Business Coach

The Light of Life

My mother died earlier this month. Deep breath. I wanted to share with you sooner, but didn’t feel I had the energy to authentically share as a tribute to her life.

Some of you had heard about her illness with Lou Gehring’s disease which was discovered last July. For those that haven’t, here’s the short version. We learned about the terminal illness in August when my mom had already lost the ability to talk and then soon after the ability to swallow — of course she continued to communicate by writing every single word. Now, here’s the kicker… my mom was diagnosed with cancer of the liver in December 2009. I guess that was her way to end the suffering faster and follow the path set out for her.

I share this today as a tribute to her life (and ours).

My mom threw herself fully into raising me and my sister. And the love both me and my sister ran very deep. She really was self-less and wanted to give us everything that she missed as a child. She was very active in our lives. She was my Girl Scout leader and encourage me to pursue every dream including being a batonist in parades and the Washington D.C. Cherry Blossom princess for the state. I became who I am because of her and my amazing father.

This journey through her illness has spread a lot of light in my life. And although I already know that I am following my divine path as a business coach and mentor, it really got me thinking. I began to look at life in a different way. I have started to be very, very present about everything — from my family, home to yoga and business. And things are being reveal to me like never before. I see things that I haven’t seen before. And I believe this is a gift from my mother.

Today, I want to invite you to open your eyes to the light (and life). Enjoy the sweet kiss from your daughter, the fur on your pet, the sweet phone call from a friend. Enjoy those things that you have been missing because you have been too obsessed about something completely insignificant.

Here’s to your “life” success!

Please enjoy these videos of my mom and daughter taken just one year ago Thanksgiving.

Cartoon Transcription to Encourage Subconscious Shifts

STEP 1: Listen To Audio

STEP 2: Explore graphical representation

Audio Transcribed with Cartoons to Encourage Subconscious Shifts

Audio Transcribed with Cartoons to Encourage Subconscious Shifts

STEP 3: Ask yourself. Could reminders of practices and techniques ensure subconscious shifts?

In my upcoming course, “Mastering Your Dragons” I have been inspired to have classes transcribed with cartoons. Example above.

As creator Ron Reddock, M.S. internationally recognized as an educator and leader in the field CreARTivity says, “It’s a hands-on, multisensory discovery” so you hear, see and can have a deeper experience of the transformational information.

As you can tell from my book, Seven Dragons: a guide to a limitless mind, I believe graphical visualization is an important part of activating our imagination for creation, peace and fulfillment.

Let me know your thoughts? Do cartoon-like graphics help you active your memory, imagination for creation?
