By W. Vito Montone

Conscious Business or Capitalism is about balancing the 3 “Ps” – people (your team, investors, vendors and customers), profit, and the planet, whether your focus is evolutionary, economic or environmental.

The Conscious Capitalism Institute (CCI) has found that businesses that adopt this model outperform the S&P 500 long term. Any business can operate this way. We’ve been using it for years to train micro-businesses (those earning under $1 million per year) to embrace business holistically through our BrandU® Business Profit System curriculum.

Here are 10 ways you can improve your business, community and the planet:

Focus on the triple bottom line. Instead of reaching for profits only, think people, profits and the planet in all your business practices. For instance, define a higher purpose for your company…as just one example, you could show a commitment to green, environmentally sustainable practices and communicate this to your staff and customers. People will see you are in business not only to make payroll, but also to make a difference.

Look to your own passions and anchor them to your business and your brand. When your business and your passion are aligned, you can parlay these into great impact for your company and community, whether that is local or global.

Set on your intention.
When you clearly communicate your vision (intention) and your team embraces it, mutual intentions will combine for exponential effectiveness. For instance, if your company sets the intention of helping school kids learn about the business, this can be communicated through your marketing and PR efforts. You will find customers’ word-of-mouth referrals will grow as a result. This marketing approach is proven to actually increase results and reduce costs.

Manage for balance. Managers must be good listeners and clear communicators to train and motivate staff to work toward a common intention. This means managers must embrace the true nature balance — people, profits and planet — to make sound and long-lasting decisions. Lead by example and commit to growing in this way of thinking. When leaders walk the talk, marketing and business growth will follow.

Plan to succeed. There’s an old saying – If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Once you create a plan to meet your conscious business objectives, clear communication is crucial so that everyone is aligned.

Commit to meet all parties’ needs and define them clearly. When meeting with staff, vendors and customers, always set an intention and ask what each person needs to meet that intention.

Listen and speak non-judgmentally. Practice speaking from observation rather than analysis or judgment, remembering that emotions may push us off our intention. We’ve found non-violent communication techniques (NVC) extremely helpful to hold the best intentions, internally or externally. We’ve instituted this way of communicating in staff and vendor meetings and found it can make a big difference fast.

Optimize your team’s strengths. The people you’re leading should be following their individual passions as well as acting strategically to meet the company’s goals. Your environment must be open and safe so the deepest understanding can be established and respected by all.

Be on the lookout for value-added solutions. Value-added solutions shouldn’t cost money and embracing them should not feel like a risk. When you expand your definition of your bottom line to include people and the planet, you will find solutions that will also improve profits.

Be committed. Thinking that the connection your company has with the planet or people (inside or outside the company) won’t affect your profits is a huge mistake. They’re intertwined. Realizing the rewards and benefits of conscious business requires a change in thinking and a commitment to embracing triple bottom line processes over the long haul.

Conscious business starts only one place – deeply on the inside. A conscious business is a fascinating journey of anchoring the fullest expression of you as a business and “being” that.

While it sounds overly simple – “build it and they shall come” – it is true. The first step is “be”ing clear and powerful about what you are here to express.

Article by Kendall Summerhawk

The first few years of being in business, the idea of “paying myself first” sounded insane. It seemed a lot more important to pay my mortgage, my web hosting fees and the telephone bill. You know what I mean, right?

But then I noticed that I always felt one step behind in how much I was making. It seemed as if it was never enough. Plus, I never felt like I had “permission” to buy things I wanted, like new clothes or things for my house.

When I peeled back the curtain I realized that by not paying myself it was as if I was saying that “I didn’t count.” I was putting myself so low on the list of financial priorities it was no wonder I never felt like I had any money.

All that changed when I created my simple “Pay Yourself First” system. And yes, I created this system BEFORE I was making more. Magically, not only did I have the money to pay myself, I quickly began making MORE than I had before, without really doing anything different.

If you’re in the same boat I was, where you always seem to have more “month than you have money” then you MUST read these 3 simple tips right now. They’ll help you pay yourself first, plus help you quickly increase how much you keep each month.

Tip #1 If You Don’t Value Yourself, How Will Anyone Else?

If you put off paying yourself first you’re telling the world that you’re not valuable. Once you begin to honor your contribution by compensating yourself you’re going to feel valued and you’ll feel a growing sense of self respect. Trust me, that’s going to translate into more confidence marketing and growing your business.

Tip #2 The Amount Doesn’t Matter But The Action Does

At first, it doesn’t really matter how much you pay yourself. What DOES matter is making this part of your monthly ritual. So, choose an amount and a schedule you’re likely to stick with. Don’t make it contingent upon getting a new client or filling a new program. Remember, you’re establishing that YOU come first, no matter what.

Tip #3 Beware Of Money Gremlins That May Pop Up

If you’re not accustomed to valuing yourself in this way you may find a money gremlin tries to sabotage you. If this happens, simply breathe…and remind yourself that this is normal. Be assured, these gremlins will disappear over time so stick with it, okay?

Every Step You Take To Value Yourself More WILL Pay Off…

If you’ve struggled with under charging and under earning then paying yourself first is going to be an important step forward. Just remember that these are the same steps I took to go from waiting tables to now running a multi-million dollar coaching business. If I can do it, so can you!

By Vrinda Normand – Copywriter & Guest Blogger

My client Anastasia is a fun, sexy, bold woman with a huge laugh and a huge heart. As a life coach, she has been striving for several years to share her gifts with the world in a bigger, more leveraged way.

Before we met, her information products and teleseminars weren’t selling online. She was going through the ups and downs of hope and frustration with her marketing.

Then a few months ago, she called me with a huge surge of excitement. She had landed an opportunity to host a virtual event called the Entrepreneurial Goddess Telesummit.

She would be joining 16 powerful women leaders and get exposure to over a half million people through online marketing. So we went to work right away on the website that would fill the telesummit and bring Anastasia’s business to the next level.

As her irresistible writing coach, I noticed 3 important strategies to make her content more clear and compelling. These are very common areas where I see a lot of entrepreneurs could improve.

Just a 1% increase in conversation for Anastasia would mean over 5,000 new potential clients subscribing to her list. She’s right in the middle of her launch (the telesummit hasn’t started yet) and over 2,000 people have already registered.

Strategy #1: Be vulnerable in your marketing. Share personal details that show you’re human. This helps your audience relate to you and trust you. You’ll see in the example below that highlighting the challenges of powerful women leaders (their burnout, overwhelm, fear & self-doubt) makes the content far more enticing. Especially because these women have learned the hard way and are sharing their wisdom from real life experience.

Strategy #2: Be specific about the results people will get from working with you. In the Before example, Anastasia writes about aligning the business team, embracing joy, and balancing energies. But it’s not very clear how these things will produce tangible results in a woman’s life. The descriptions don’t spark an emotional charge like hot copy should. Notice the difference in the After example.

Strategy #3:
Be concise and try to communicate your message with fewer words. It will be much stronger and easier to read. Notice how the headline evolves in the examples below. Nothing in particular “pops out” at you in the Before version – nice but not catchy enough. The After version hooks you with a few key words: truth, power, burnout and thrive. Plus it’s a lot zingier because it’s shorter.

Before Example by Anastasia:

On this Very Special Telesummit, you will learn from some of the World’s Top Business Women Leaders how they Grew a Successful Business, Helped Thousands of People, and Stayed Connected with Their Feminine Power

· Strategies for Aligning Your Business Team

· Embrace the Joy in Your Business

· Uncover and Integrate Your Deepest Passions Into Your Life

· How to Balance Between Your Masculine and Feminine Energy

“Finally…the Truth About What It Takes to Lead With Your Feminine Power, Avoid Burnout, and Thrive in Your Business…”

· Hear real life stories about how strong women leaders faced burnout and overwhelm

· Learn the common leadership mistakes others have made…and how you can avoid them

· Discover what it means to lead like a woman and a feminine goddess

· Learn how powerful women have struggled with fear and self-doubt

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

THERE’S A SMALL SQUIRREL IN MY BACKYARD running with an acorn. I watch him for a minute when suddenly he is attacked by another squirrel attempting to steal his acorn. After a long struggle the smaller squirrel runs away, unfortunately without his acorn. I wonder if that squirrel will still be holding angry thoughts toward the squirrel that sold his dinner?

No other life form on planet Earth seems to hold so much negativity in their mind, body, and life as the human race.

Think about it, you may see an angry squirrel chasing another for an acorn, but I bet the anger is forgotten once the other squirrel has eaten the acorn.

Wouldn’t you agree?

There are millions of patterns in the subconscious mind.

The patterns that actually work for you can be left alone, but the patterns that aren’t working can be explored and retrained.

But how do you find them?

How do you bring them into your conscious awareness?

These dragons are stopping you from living the life of your dreams.

Let’s talk about how you can uncover your own unique hidden limiting beliefs and mental patterns (dragons).

Step 1: Observe your thoughts first. The thought precedes that habit/addiction/pattern/dragon

Step 2: When the thought comes up ask yourself, “Is this thought of
past, present, or future? Is this true for all mankind?”

Step 3: Redirect the mind into the present time. (The past is a mere memory and the future is a mere fantasy. This means that you need to deal with issues in the now.)

Step 4: How do you experience that thought/dragons and feel right now? How does it feel?

Step 5: Write down the situation in your journal and name your dragon.

Overcome Inbox Overwhelm

Do you feel overwhelmed with your e-mail inbox? Is it managing you? Professionals waste up to a month each year reading and writing e-mails. Yikes! And as you know — e-mail will suck up as much time as you allow it to.

We are hit with more and more information these days than ever before. AND it is humanly impossible to absorb!

Here are 5 strategies to help you take control of your inbox time, and be more productive in your business than ever before.

    1. Reduce E-mail Volume: The first way to do this is to send less e-mail. When you send less, you get less. Limit your reply to all, and ask yourself why am I sending this, and is it necessary? Look at what you are sending out, and see if you can merge numerous emails into one or two. Only send out messages with purpose and relevance.

2.Reduce Work Flow Interruptions: Set up auto route settings in your email, with folders for low priority and personal. Schedule a time to check these folders that suits you, and only check these folders in the designated time you choose. E.g.) 1x day, week, ECT. Keep only high priority emails in your inbox. Let people know your schedule with e-mail, and to use the phone and call you if it’s an emergency.

3.Disconnect Email Alerts: Once you block out the constant interruptions of email alerts, you will be free to focus on the task at hand you are working on, and will become more productive. We create our best ideas when we can put full focus on what we are doing without interruption. By turning off the alerts, you will create a quieter working environment, be able to do the deep thinking you need to, and will get more done.

    4. Change your Send and Receive Schedule: Set a check time of every 45 minutes or so. You will always respond to an important email within an hour. It is better to take 10-15 minutes of full focus on checking your e-mail and responding, then being constantly interrupted, and forcing your brain to think about too many things at once. We are as humans naturally more excited for the “new”, but in getting caught up in the new emails every 5 minutes, it is preventing us from looking at what is necessary.

5.Let People know what you want in an email: Help others by sharing what you look for in an email, and letting them know what you are doing with managing email. As them if there is anything you could be doing differently that would help them with the email they receive from you. Ask how they feel about their email issues. Share ideas of how to create a better email relationship.

Finally, clear your inbox, and set a goal number in mind you would like that you feel would be a comfortable amount of email to deal with at your designated time. Strive to keep your emails at or below this number.

Clearing Your Inbox:

•If you can do it quickly get it done first. Sweep through email that take 2 minutes or less.
•Defer the messages you need to get to but can’t right now to a folder and have a set time to address those emails.
•Use a follow up flag on emails you wish to be alerted to at a specific time.
•Delegate the emails to others that you can
•Delete – Sort oldest to newest, and delete anything irrelevant, or information that is easily accessible from another source. Only keep important information.

Once you take back your control over your email, you will find you will be getting more work done, at a higher quality. This is because you are giving full attention to the task at hand, allowing yourself to reach full potential without distraction. You may be quite surprised to find how much extra time you will actually have by following these steps.

I know what you are thinking…. “What do I want to do next? Where do I start? That seems like a ton of work — what would be the rewards? I’ve been worrying this HOW long? I only have one ezine written for the month?”

Does this mental chatter sound familiar to you? If you find yourself struggling with writer’s block, this could be your answer.

Many times the reason for a mental block is a mind with too much clutter and lack of consistent focus. We have so much going on these days, that when we have to sit down and force ourselves to write nothing comes out. We find our thoughts drifting. The following techniques are sure to snap your mind into focus and allow your creative writing juices to freely flow, and ultimately breaking you free from writers block! Woo Hoo!

1. Research – Before you start writing your article or book, take some time to read and research work from authors you enjoy and respect. Take note of the things you really like, and the writing style you wish to capture in your work.

2. Set a distraction free time – Schedule a time you would like to spend working on your project. Ensure you will have a distraction free, comfortable environment you feel great in.

3. Reflection Time – 15-30 minutes before you plan on starting your project, take some time and reflect on what the purpose of your article/book is. What are your visions, who are you trying to reach, what is your message? Think about these questions, and really get into a great energy and emotion regarding your work, and what you hope to accomplish.

4. Creating your work – When you are ready to write, find your comfortable distraction free work area. Write the old fashion way, pen and paper. You will find your thoughts will flow a lot easier as writing by hand allows your mind to continue to flow as you write. Often times, if we write directly on the computer, we are not only thinking about our story, but also paying attention to the computer and the program we are using. This prevents the creative natural flow you will find in writing by hand.

5. Type, Edit, Add – Finalize your work, and type it up. This is a great time to edit, or add more thoughts to your work.

The combination of research, reflection and no distractions will allow you to have full use of your relaxed, focused mind. You will find ideas and creativity will flow effortlessly. Instead of feeling frustration over not knowing what to write, you will feel joy in the discovery of a new quality of work you will received from placing yourself in the right environment. Your work will be a higher quality. You also will get more accomplished in less time, all by allowing yourself full focused, coupled with bringing a great energy to the table for your new creation.

Our mission at V-Team Business Coaching Program is to help busy entrepreneurs and professionals tap into their infinite power and focus on high return on investment strategies so they can take their business to the multiple 7-figures they desire.

law of attraction business coaching

law of attraction business coaching

As a business coach that specializes in universal laws and manifestation, I often find the best way to get answers is by journaling. But how do you gain clarity, shift your subconscious mind and journal for success? I believe the secret lies in how to ask the right question or a better question.

Let’s look at what it takes to figure out the next appropriate for your business confusion.

There are three types of precision questions:
1. closed-ended questions
2. open-ended questions
3. mind-opening questions

Close-ended questions started with one of these words… is, do, can, could, would, will and have.

Open-ended questions which we draw upon the 5 elements of Chinese culture start with the wood element meaning which is what, the fire element asking who, the earth element asking when, the metal element asking how and the water element asking why.

Then mind-opening questions are not exactly questions at all, but attributes to the art for manifesting through questions. What I mean by that is they open the imaginary mind. To do this you can start with that words, what if or imagine. For example, imagine that I was your fairy god mother and could grant you anything you wanted, what would you ask for? Or what if just for a moment that you knew without a shadow of a doubt you would be a complete success, what would you do next?

Okay. Let’s play.

Example: I am working like a dog and not making any money.

Questions:

1. (open-ended) What are you doing with your time?
Answer: I am answering email, writing copy, and doing research.

2. (closed-ended) Is that what you should be doing with your time?
Answer: Probably not.

3. (open-ended) How could you spend your time to attract more wealth?
Answer: I could be making cold-calls, building a list, creating relationship.

4. (closed-ended) Is that how you want to spend your time?
Answer: Not really, but I will.

5. (mind-opening) Imagine your ideal work day. How do you see yourself spending your day.
Answer: I would be writing and reading.

6. (open-ended) Okay. So, who could be making cold-calls, building a list, creating relationship?
Answer: I could hire an assistant or an intern.

Do you see how this works? Open-ended, close-ended and then when it’s not in joy ask a mind-opening question. We do our best manifesting when we are joyful and that’s why though mind-opening questions are so important.

emotional buying for entrepreneurs

emotional buying for entrepreneurs

If you are an entrepreneur and involved in your own business’ marketing you probably have heard that we buy with our emotions.

Do you know why? And how? Let’s start with the why.

The human brain has three main components: the brainstem, the limbic system, and the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex analyzes sensory data, performs memory functions, learns new information and forms thoughts and makes decisions. The limbic system is responsible for emotions and feelings like anger, passion, and sadness. Information retention and long-term memory are stimulated by the firing of the amygdala, which perform a key role in processing nearly all emotional events. Emotions cause us to pay attention and help use decide which message to remember. The brain stem is responsible for body functions, which is very important but unrelated to this article.

Luckily, it is almost impossible to be emotionless. We are emotional beings. When writing or speaking your marketing message, you marketing message must be processed by the limbic system. Emotions tell the reader when to pay attention. Emotions are not only processed faster than logical thought, but also make the final decision. Your marketing message needs stimulate an emotional reaction.

Now for the communicating and copywriting how-to angle!

To stimulate a human emotion, the brain needs to make an associations. You see a lot of e-mail copy that says, “I am so exciting..” or “I can’t wait to tell you” or “I can’t believe I forgot”. You get the idea, do you see how you perked up when you read these words. They do you excited and interested, which causes you to listen. Interesting. Isn’t it? So the next time, you present a marketing message to your targeted audience be sure to include words with emotional associations. It doesn’t matter if the words evoke a positive or negative emotion. What matters is it evokes response.

Feel what your body does when you read these words…

“The Great Depression, April 15, taxes, Uncle Sam, 1% increase in sales tax”. Do you see how these words evoke a negative emotional response within your body?

You can also use words and numbers to evoke a positive response such as FREE, 75% off, Bonus.

Although you may think numbers would be factual, they are really emotional. Many times, numbers will evoke the feelings of urgency, fear of loss or security.

When you communicate whether through your writing or speaking make sure you create a feeling. This can be done through allowing them to activate their imagination negatively or positively. Have fun and experiment with it. Heck, you may want to even try it on yourself.

Our mission at coffeeshopreneur is to help busy entrepreneurs and professionals tap into their infinite power and focus on high return on investment strategies so they can take their business to the multiple 7-figures they desire.

which direction?

which direction?

Sometime we all need a little direction. Where are you now? Where are you going?

Let’s face it… there comes a point in everyone’s life where we are stuck. Our lives need a serious makeover. Some define it as ‘being in a rut’ or ‘caught in a funk’. Some don’t even bother to put a voice behind it, just hoping it will go away. The lucky ones find a path to shore, while many of us are still treading in deep waters. So how do you know when to call for help?

The first indication you might need help is if your life is not producing the desired outcomes you want. There are SIGNS all around you telling you something is wrong. Usually it begins with your inner monologue (aka dragons). Humans have an uncanny ability to create thought patterns (aka dragons) which are self-defeating. When things are not going well in our external environment, it is turned internally as a repetitive voice for failure. These thoughts become validated when something else goes wrong. At some point in the pattern, giving up hope seems a viable option. This is when you call for a little help — Especially, when you KNOW you can’t do it alone.

A business coach restores hope with learning tools and resources you may have never considered. The defining ability a life coach offers for personal development is an optimal support system. Having someone to guide you back into the right lane can be a saving grace in your life.

Another reason to have a business coach is help you do a self-inventory. A business coach can sit down with you and identify problem areas in your life. They have the professional qualifications to assist in developing a realistic plan for your personal development and business growth. It is with encouragement and a total dissection of every part of your world a business coach makes impact.

Over time our behaviors become learned and some behaviors need to be unlearned. Especially behaviors which have scooted our lives into wrong directions. Sometimes we are not aware of the self-defeating behaviors which hinder our personal growth. A business coach knows techniques for positive reinforcement in learned processes. They help you with a self-assessment and follow up with a self-help plan. Every business coach has different approaches to their instructions. Some business coaches focus on certain areas, such as marketing or financial plans. There are others who help you to find your life purpose or spiritual destiny.

It is okay to reach out for help when you find yourself lost in the tides. The first step is acknowledging the need. The second step you must take is to find a business coach who is really in resonance with your energy. You must keep seeking avenues for personal development. Your mind and your life patterns should always be renewed. Learning new ways of doing things, or new ways to think about yourself is essential for personal growth. A business coach can throw you a lifeline. Better yet, a business coach can restore a vital part of yourself you forgot all about through your strife…a vision for your life.

Seven Dragons: A guide to a limitless mind

Seven Dragons: A guide to a limitless mind

What if your only block from getting to your goal was procrastination? Let’s look at the traits.. Do you share these traits with other procrastinators?

- Procrastinators know what they should do about a problem, and in many cases they know what specific action needs to be taken. Yet they find reasons to avoid action.

- Procrastinators are reluctant to do anything about a problem now, vowing to take action at some vague time in the future.

- Procrastinators promise to take action when the “right” circumstances present themselves. By making performance of the job depend on something else, they justify their decision to delay action. They delude themselves into thinking that their hands are tied. They would like to do something but can’t-it’s not their fault.

- All procrastination is the result of deluding ourselves. Procrastinators deny reality, refusing to accept responsibility for their lives. To defeat procrastination, we must stop playing games with ourselves. You can’t overcome procrastination until you accept the fact that you are responsible for what you make of your life. That may be more honesty than many people are capable of, but there is no other way to achieve a fulfilling life.

We are not victims of our circumstances. You can do the things that need to be done. And you can learn to distinguish between the things that need to be done now and the things that can wait.

1. Have you written a list of your life and lifestyle goals (aka A Bucket List)?

2. Have you have written a list of short-term goals (3-6 months)?

3. Do you keep “GET to do” and pictures where you can see them daily?

4. Do you set CLEAR priorities? Do some things that seem urgent take on less importance when you focus on your larger goals?

5. Do you know when to say “no” to keep from burdening yourself with more jobs than you can finish?

6. Do you live in the present? Do you presently FOCUS on what you’re doing now, rather than on the things you should have done in the past?

7. When you’ve given your BEST effort, do you know when to wrap up a project?-Do you feel that spending more time on it will only keep you from starting your next project?

Did you answer “no” to any of the above questions? If you did, you need to make a commitment to do something about it today.
